Happy National Fried Chicken Day! This crispy food was introduced to America in the 1700s by the Scottish but it originated in Southeast Asia. The Scottish made their version of fried chicken a bit different from the way we prepare it today. They made their fried chicken with no seasonings and fried it with fat. Today we use a large variety of seasoning to add extra flavor to our chicken, and fry it using vegetable oil, canola oil or even peanut oil to makes it a bit healthier. No matter how you spice it up or fry it, fried chicken is always a dinner or lunch favorite.
